HOMEWORK

The student will have an assigned weekly reading that will need to be done at home to be discussed for lessons such as for Literature.

REQUIRED BOOK LIST

  • The student will be assigned a book list to purchase for at home readings or to use during class.
  • All other lesson material will be covered in class.

SUPPLY LIST

Teachers may request small craft items to be brought in by the student such as toilet paper rolls, rocks, etc.

Items to be brought to class: 

  • Water bottle

  • Pencils
  • Recitation Notebook
  • Narration Notebook
  • Science Notebook
  • Books

BIBLE (1x week)

Acts - The study of the beginning of the church. (ESV translation)

LITERATURE (1x week)

  • Men of Iron, Howard Pyle
  • Caddie Woodlawn, Carol Ryrie Brink

MORAL IMAGINATION (1x week)

A selection from Nathaniel Hawthorne’s Tanglewood Tales and A Wonder Book.

GEOGRAPHY (1x week)

Marco Polo, Manuel Komroff - Follow along with one of the first Europeans to travel extensively in Asia including along the Silk Road.

SCIENCE (2x week)

Studying and exploring the following topics for one term each.

  • Matter and Microscopes
  • Mountains and Volcanoes
  • Backyard Birds

OKLAHOMA STATE HISTORY (1x week)

An overview of Oklahoma state history with corresponding literature and hands-on activities.

ART (1x week)

Studying and exploring art through a mix of handicrafts and artistic expressions.

PRESENTATIONS (1x week)

Developing public speaking skills through a variety of topics and presentation types including bringing in show and tell items from home.

SWEDISH DRILL (1x week)

A form of exercise that aims to work the brain as much as it works the body, while simultaneously building listening skills.
