Missing Community Gathering Policy

Illnesses happen, etc. but we do ask that you have a commitment to community gatherings. This co-op can only run smoothly and effectively if everyone participates faithfully every week. Please have a similar attitude toward your commitment at Apiary as you would towards a job, rather than a hobby. That being said, we understand that unforeseen illnesses, family emergencies, and/or short planned absences will occur.

If you are unable to attend a community gathering, please follow the steps below. This should be done as soon as you know that you will be missing a community gathering:

Review your responsibilities for the day:

• Teaching
• Assisting
• Nursery (two mamas must be present in the nursery at all times)
• Recess Duty
• Ask mamas who are on break or a classroom helper if they can sub for your lesson(s) that day and let them know what you were planning to do and any resources they may need for teaching.
• Notify the Board that you will be unable to attend and who will be covering each of your responsibilities.
• Post in the “Chat” Telegram group that you will not be attending so all mamas are aware if they need to make any adjustments to their lesson plans.

Note: If there are too many mamas unable to attend a community gathering, the board may decide to adjust the schedule to accommodate for the mamas who can come instead of canceling. In this special instance, the board may make the decision to adjust our policies for that specific community gathering and those changes will be communicated.
